Celebrated on Oct. 5, World Teacher Day was created to commemorate the day in 1994 when United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization set the international standards for teachers’ working conditions. To show their appreciation, several companies are offering freebies and discounts just for teachers to celebrate the day. Here’s where teachers can find the best deals.

Freebies

Microsoft: Teachers will receive Office 365 Education for free, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Microsoft Teams, and other apps. A .edu email address is required to get the deal.

Overstock: Teachers will receive a free Club O account through Overstock, offering free shipping, reward points on purchases, and other discounts. The Club O account typically costs $19.95 a year.

Deals and Discounts

Adobe: Teachers are being offered a 60% discount on Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and is normally priced at $52.99. To get the deal, a .edu email address will be needed during sign up.

Barnes & Noble: Pre-K through 12th-grade teachers will receive a 20% discount on books and other educational materials when they enroll in the Barnes & Noble Educator program online or at stores. This discount increases to 25% during educator appreciation day promotions.

Half Price Books: Teachers receive 10% off year-round with the Educator Discount card, which can be applied for at Half Price Books stores.

Hanes: A 10% discount is being offered by Hanes for use on its Hanes.com and OneHanesPlace.com websites. Teachers will need to verify their identity and will receive a promo code to use during checkout.

Joann: A 15% discount will be given to teachers by signing up for the Teacher Rewards program on Joann’s website. A digital discount card will be provided to get in on the deal.

Lenovo: The computer company is giving teachers 5% off on its website by verifying their identity on the students and teachers' page of the Lenovo website. Not all offers on the site apply to the discount.

Michaels: A 15% discount will be given to teachers for online and in-store purchases with a valid school ID or by verifying their identity online. To do so, teachers need to sign up for Michaels Rewards.
