'World War Z': Tips And Tricks For Harder Difficulty Levels
KEY POINTS
- Stealth is essential when playing harder difficulties
- Make sure to bring upgraded gear and classes
- Communicate and work together to overcome even the hardest of modes
The unrelenting tide of infected in Saber Interactive’s video game adaptation of “World War Z” can be a breeze to deal with at first, but the game’s challenge ramps up significantly once players dive into the harder difficulties.
With every zombie gaining substantial boosts to their survivability and damage output, players can easily find themselves overwhelmed by the undead horde. However, even the hardest of difficulty options can be overcome with a bit of planning.
Here are a few tips on how to survive “World War Z’s” harder difficulties.
Class and weapon upgrades
A good class build can make or break a difficult run, especially on Insane mode. As much as possible, players should level up their preferred weapons and classes first before attempting higher difficulties.
Make sure to play into the strengths of each class before investing points into them. Any perk that goes underutilized can ultimately ruin a run. On the other hand, weapons gain flat stat increases as they are improved, so make sure to buy upgrades as soon as possible.
Use stealth as much as possible
Players may get away with blasting through ambient infected in lower difficulties, but attracting swarms in harder modes will only make things unnecessarily complicated. Due to this, it’s best to always bring at least one silenced weapon for cutting through zombies without attracting attention.
Silenced rifles are typically great for all encounters. However, even the basic silenced pistol is still useful in high difficulties simply because of its ability to take zeds down quietly.
Avoid friendly fire
Friendly fire becomes extremely lethal in high difficulty modes, so it’s best to avoid it as much as possible. There are a few ways to deal with friendly fire, such as using fighting formations, but the simplest method is to simply stop strafing when shooting. This can help keep players from accidentally walking into their team’s line of fire.
Prioritize Screamers
Large hordes are hard enough as they are, and the last thing players need is an endless stream of zombies barreling down from rooftops. Screamers tend to spawn at random intervals like other special zombies, but they are particularly problematic during horde encounters.
Make sure to hunt them down whenever they appear.
