World’s Ugliest Dog 2013 Winner: Walle, The Beagle, Boxer And Basset Hound, Wins The Title
Walle, a four-year-old mutt that is a mix of beagle, boxer and basset hound, was crowned "World’s Ugliest Dog 2013" in the contest that was held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif., on Friday.
Walle was a last-minute entrant in the 25th annual World’s Ugliest Dog competition and scooped the title from the 29 other contenders due to his huge head, short thick stature and a duck waddle, officials wrote on the contest’s official Facebook page.
"This dog looked like he's been photoshopped with pieces from various dogs and maybe a few other animals," judge Brian Sobel said, adding that his waddle-like walk was something that impressed judges.
“People come up to me and say that dog is not right, but I love him,” Walle’s owner Tammie Barbee told Associated Press, adding that she has had him since he was a three-month-old puppy.
Apart from a trophy, Walle walked away with $1,500 for winning the title, and is set to make several television appearances.
According to the contest’s official Facebook page, Walle will appear on the ‘Weekend Today’ on Sunday and the ‘Today Show’ on Monday. He is also set to feature on the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Show’ on Wednesday.
