Would Princess Diana Still Be Alive If She'd Been Rushed To Hospital Immediately?
Princess Diana tragically passed away on Aug. 31, 1997, following a fatal car crash in Paris. Years after her death, it seems that some royal fans still have not moved on from the traumatic incident.
On the online forum site Quora, some royal fans are wondering whether or not Princess Diana would have been saved if she had been rushed to the hospital immediately after the crash.
Kirsten Ehrlich Davis, a keen royal observer, said that she doesn’t think the Princess of Wales would have survived even if she was rushed to the hospital because her injuries were extensive. Princess Diana also lost a considerable amount of blood due to a ruptured blood vessel close to her heart.
“The doctor in charge felt that a fast journey would have aggravated her injuries. The ambulance went at a steady speed of 50km an hour, with a police escort so they did not have to stop for traffic lights etc.,” she wrote.
Chris Hawkes, a lifelong citizen of the United Kingdom, seconded Davis’ stand and said that Princess Diana wouldn’t have survived no matter what.
According to Hawkes, if the accident took place in the UK, Princess Diana would’ve been placed in an ambulance and rushed to a hospital while the paramedics attempt to stabilize her. If this were the case, Princess Diana would’ve died in the ambulance.
Since Princess Diana was in France at that time, the paramedics first tried to stabilize her before transporting her to the hospital. During the move, Princess Diana suffered from cardiac arrest and died in the hospital.
Princess Diana’s sudden death left an impact especially on her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. During their interview with BBC, Prince Harry said that he was in disbelief when Prince Charles broke the news to him and his older brother.
Prince William, on the other hand, said that he felt dizzy, disoriented, and very confused. The heir to the throne couldn’t help but ask again and again why his mom had to die.
