The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization founded in 1980. It helps fulfill wishes for children with a critical illnesses between the ages of two and 18.
Cena is the most requested celebrity for meet-and-greet wishes.
"If you ever need me for this ever, I don't care what I'm doing, I will drop what I'm doing and be involved because I think that's the coolest thing," Cena told Reuters when he was recognized for granting 500 wishes.
"I just drop everything. If I can offer a fantastic experience, I'll be first in line to do my part," Cena said.
Cena, who has 13 WWE Championship titles, three World Heavyweight Championships, and five United States Championships, usually brings his championship belts when he does the meet-and-greet.
Cena, 45, has also acted in several films, including "The Marine," "Trainwreck" and "Blockers."
Children often take photos and spend part of the day with Cena. He has also taken them into the wrestling ring, according to Guinness.
