WWE ?13 Roster Reveals Superstars From Past And Present
World Wrestling Entertainment releases a new video game to its "WWE" game series every year, and "WWE '13" is letting players relive moments from the Attitude Era with an extensive roster of wrestlers from the past and present, reports IGN.
Since the original "WWF SmackDown" was released in 2000, the series been the standard for professional wrestling video games and has pushed for something new every year. "WWE '13" will have moments gamers can recreate and the superstars they'll need to recreate them.
The basic roster consists of the usual superstars, divas and legends. This year's offers Alberto Del Rio, Big Show, Booker T, Brock Lesnar, Brodus Clay, Chris Jericho, Christian, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, David Otunga, Dolph Ziggler, Edge, Epico, The Great Khali, Heath Slater, Hunico, Jack Swagger, JBL, Jinder Mahal, John Cena (plus Doctor of Thuganomics attire), John Laurinaitis, Justin Gabriel, Kane, Kevin Nash, Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, The Miz, Primo, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, The Rock, R-Truth, Santino Marella, Sheamus, Sin Cara, Ted DiBiase, Triple H, The Undertaker, Wade Barrett, Zack Ryder, AJ Lee, Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix, Brie Bella, Eve, Kelly Kelly, Kharma, Nikki Bella.
Going about 15 years back in time, the Attitude Era roster includes Big Boss Man, Billy Gunn, Bradshaw (APA), Bret Hart, British Bulldog, Cactus Jack (Mick Foley), Chris Jericho (Y2J), Christian (Edge & Christian), Dude Love (Mick Foley), Eddie Guerrero, Edge (Edge & Christian), Faarooq (APA), The Godfather, Kane, Ken Shamrock, Mankind (Mick Foley), Mark Henry (Nation of Domination), Mike Tyson, Mr. McMahon, "The Big Show" Paul Wight, Road Dogg Jesse James, Road Warrior Animal, Road Warrior Hawk, The Rock, Shane McMahon, Shawn Michaels (D-Generation X), "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Triple H (D-Generation X), Triple H (Hunter Heart Helmsley), The Undertaker (The Lord of Darkness), Vader, X-Pac, Lita (Attitude Era), Stephanie McMahon (The Billion Dollar Princess) and Trish Stratus.
Another change made to the game is the revamping of the single-player story mode. In previous years the game has included a "Road to WrestleMania" mode where players would be a specific superstar playing their way through a storyline leading to WrestleMania.
This year the single-player story will take gamers through the iconic moments that made up one of the most popular periods in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment and all of professional wrestling. Game developers THQ are even offering an Austin 3:16 Special Edition of the game that features the face of the Attitude Era, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, on the cover, along with several other collectable items.
Even the cover superstar of the basic game this year, current WWE Champion CM Punk, embodies an edginess that personified the Attitude Era. The Straight-Edge Superstar broke out as one of the main figures in the WWE, ironically, by giving a speech on the horrible condition the industry is in.
Ever since CM Punk's "pipe bomb" pushed him into the main event, he has been keeping audiences listening and watching to find out what he'll do next.
The roster was revealed on Saturday as a part of WWE SummerSlam Fan Axxess. The news comes over two months before the game's in-store release on Oct 30.
