WWE 2014 Money In The Bank: Results And Recap For Every Match On The Card
A new WWE World Heavyweight Champion was crowned on Sunday at Money in the Bank 2014.
The pay-per-view went as many had predicted, with the betting favorites winning both ladder matches. Only two titles were on the line at the event.
The WWE World Heavyweight Championship was up for grabs because Daniel Bryan had been stripped of the title a few weeks earlier. Bryan addressed the crowd on the pre-show, announcing that he didn’t know when he would return, and might said he have to undergo another surgery.
Before Bryan got injured, it had been assumed by many that he would face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Now, the new champ will likely face the man who broke The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak.
Below are the complete results from Money in the Bank, as well as a recap for each match.
John Cena Won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match
To the surprise of very few, Cena ended the night as the new champion. Roman Reigns put up a good showing, but Kane did his best to keep the former Shield member from winning, with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon sitting at ringside. Randy Orton was the most memorable wrestler in the match, as he was covered in blood for a good portion of it.
Seth Rollins Won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match
The man who broke up The Shield came in as the heavy favorite and left the PPV with the briefcase. Dean Ambrose was forced to leave the match halfway through, because of a shoulder injury. He eventually returned and was in position to grab the briefcase, but Kane interfered on behalf of The Authority, allowing Rollins to win.
Rusev Over Big E
For the first time since he debuted on the main roster, Rusev took a beating in his match. Big E put up a good fight, but he ending up tapping to the Accolade.
The Usos OVER The Wyatt Family (Tag Team Championship)
The match opened the PPV and may have been the best on the card. Erick Rowan was pinned after back-to-back splashes from The Usos.
Paige OVER Naomi (Divas Championship)
Paige remains undefeated at PPVs, since beating AJ for the title, getting the pin with a Ram-Paige DDT. Cameron didn’t interfere in the match, as many expected, but she was happy when Naomi lost and The Funkadactyls are clearly headed for a split.
Goldust & Stardust OVER Rybaxel
The Brotherhood continued its win streak as Stardust pinned Ryback with CrossRhodes.
Layla Over Summer Rae
Layla defeated Summer Rae with Fandango as the special guest referee.
