The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has announced the first match of this week's Friday Night SmackDown episode.

The company on Thursday revealed that Roman Reigns is scheduled to take on Dolph Ziggler in a singles encounter. The fight will occur in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at the Crown Complex.

Just last week on SmackDown in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Legacy Arena, Baron Corbin had Robert Roode, who is Dolph Ziggler’s tag team partner, take on Reigns.

Reportedly, the Friday SmackDown match is believed to be a part of the ongoing storyline including Reigns and Corbin. Clearly, the company does not have enough time for the build-up ahead of Dec. 15's TLC combat so they are doing everything possible for the build-up.

"Will The Showoff score a royal victory for Corbin’s court? Or will Reigns lay waste to another minion as the battle for control of SmackDown continues?" WWE wrote in a release as they announced Friday night's SmackDown fixture.

After being away from WWE for some time due to cancer, Reigns made a comeback earlier this year. However, the company had put him away from the main script until the recent Survivor Series, which for the first time featured fighters from NXT, RAW and SmackDown take part in the showdown to establish the brand supremacy.

At the end of the match, where 15 fighters participated, NXT's Keith Lee pinned RAW's Seth Rollins and that left him and SmackDown's Reigns as the last men standing in the ring. After clashing back-and-forth, the Big Dog eventually claimed the victory in the men's elimination match.

That win marked the return of the babyfaced fighter, who has always been considered the face of the WWE company. Following the win, WWE Universe began to again believe that WWE has big plans in store again for Reigns.
