Chris Jericho has indicated that World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is taking the newly formed All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a serious threat after they decided to ignore his pleas to help promote WrestleMania 35 through his podcast.

The 48-year-old spent over a decade with WWE but has now jumped ship and joined the newly formed promotion backed by Pakistani American billionaire Shahid Khan. They have already shown that the WWE does not faze them and are willing to offer lucrative contracts to their superstars.

Jericho admitted after he signed a multi-year deal with AEW that it was the best contract of his career, which has triggered a reaction among other pro-wrestlers, who are now aware that they have an option apart from WWE, who were the only ones in North America that offered lucrative deals.

The WWE legend had revealed earlier that he had spoken to WWE chairman Vince McMahon before signing the deal with AEW and got the business tycoon’s blessing. But in his recent interview with Jim Norton and Sam Roberts Jericho admitted he was “banned by the WWE” for his association with AEW.

Jericho was keen to use a couple of WWE stars in his podcast to promote WrestleMania 35, which is on April 7, but was denied the opportunity by the promotion owing to his association with the newly formed pro-wrestling company. He revealed that some of his videos on the WWE Network have also been deleted and edited.

“I’ve talked with him a couple of times but I’m kind of public enemy number 1 there now. I’ve been kind of removed from the annals of history,” Jericho said during the interview on Sirius XM, as transcribed by Wrestling News. “I asked the other day if I could have a couple of their guys on my podcast to promote Mania and I was told ‘no, it’s not appropriate because you’re in AEW.’ I am banned from WWE. I know that they had to take some videos down from UpUpDownDown of me playing. They edited some stuff from the Edge and Christian Show that had my name on it.”

Jericho insisted that he only chose to join the AEW in order to do something different and indicated that the new promotion have no intention of filling their roster with former WWE stars. The former WWE star and possible future Hall of Famer was also promoting AEW‘s first show "Double or Nothing" which takes place on May 25 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
