One of the superstars in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Sheamus recently vented out his frustration about losing to Roman Reigns for 43 times in a span of six months.
Sheamus spoke on the latest episode of WWE show "The Bump", where he revealed that he felt like he was “stuck in a rut” for the first time in his career when he joined The League of Nations to feud with Roman Reigns.
The League of Nations – comprising Irish leader Sheamus, Mexican Alberto Del Rio, Bulgarian Rusev, and Englishman King Barrett – was formed with an idea that all the members were not born in the U.S. and all of them had mutual anti-American sentiments.
The storyline of League of Nations, which began in November 2015, went on till January 2016 and during this tenure, the members repeatedly made efforts to prevent Roman Reigns from winning the WWE Championship. In the initial weeks of the scripted rivalry, the League of Nations members achieved success most of the times but later on, The Big Dog began to retaliate and his victories most of the time came against Ireland’s first-ever WWE champion, Sheamus.
“There's been a lot of ups and a lot of downs in this business for me. The first time I ever felt like I was stuck in a rut was when I was in The League of Nations. We had this group that was created together, and to me, this group was set up to make Roman Reigns a babyface. But, it was a dead-end for us. From the moment we got together, which was a last-minute thing, it was frustrating to me [on all four men losing [to Reigns]. I hit a roadblock,” Sheamus said, as reported by Wrestling INC.
At "Money in the Bank", a Pay Per View WWE event, Sheamus won the ladder match to earn a WWE World Heavyweight Championship contract. He cashed in the contract at Survivor Series 2015 and defeated Roman Reigns. He held the title for a brief period of time before the American ended up defeating Sheamus 43 times in their next 48 fights (including live events) between November 2015 and May 2016.
