WWE Hall Of Famer Comes To Defense Of Stephanie McMahon For Taking Leave Of Absence
KEY POINTS
- Stephanie McMahon's leave of absence from WWE surprised many fans
- Booker T defends her decision as people also need to take a break from their work
- Triple H is also back to a full-time working schedule after his life-threatening surgery
WWE royalty and chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon announced about two weeks ago that she was taking a leave of absence from the company in order to spend time with her family.
As it always has been in the internet wrestling community, rumors of all sorts started flying off the shelves about her future with the promotion and whether she will be the one to continue the business when WWE chairman Vince McMahon eventually calls it a career.
For WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, pro-wrestling fans are reading too much into the situation.
On an episode of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T reminded fans that people get tired of working all the time and that taking a break is nothing to be ashamed about.
“It just seems like people want to find something controversial to be able to talk about… Her taking time off means nothing other than she’s taking time off. Shane McMahon has taken time off several times, he’s always come back. He’s taken more time off,” the former King of the Ring winner explained.
Booker T also took the opportunity to take a swipe at those who have been criticizing McMahon for her decision to put her family first this time around.
“I don’t look at it like most because everybody’s looking for a story. And [for] me, Stephanie [McMahon] has been in the trenches for a long time. To take a break, I think is a break well-needed,” he stated.
McMahon’s leave of absence came at a time when the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that her husband, recently retired WWE star Triple H, was already back to working full-time nearly two months since he confirmed on ESPN’s First Take that he underwent life-threatening surgery.
This might be a way for the corporate power couple to stagger the workload from one another as the organization continues to move forward in the highly-competitive pro wrestling industry.
Booker T’s points do ring true for the most part as the pressure of having a company on one’s shoulders can wear a person out.
As it stands, there is no timeline being floated around as to her return.
