- The event will be a part of the WrestleMania week
The Undertaker has revealed the reason why he initially rejected an offer to join the WWE Hall of Fame, and it involves Brock Lesnar.
The four-time WWE Champion will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 1. This comes two years after the 2007 Royal Rumble champion brought curtains down to his decorated 30-year career.
The Deadman's 21-match WrestleMania unbeaten streak came to an end against Lesnar in 2014. A year later, WWE proposed to celebrate his legendary career by inducting him into the Hall of Fame. However, The Undertaker turned down the offer because he wanted to continue wrestling.
"This is actually the second time that I was invited to the Hall of Fame, so I wasn't as shocked this time. I turned it down the first time because I knew I had unfinished business. I wasn't at that place yet where I was ready to let go and say that it's over. This time, I've made my peace and I'm just honored and humbled that they would induct me," The Undertaker told Dallas Morning News.
It is widely known that The Undertaker suffered a concussion during his match against Lesnar in 2014. He has no recollection of Lesnar ending his undefeated streak. Following the 25-minute fight, he collapsed backstage and was rushed to the hospital.
"It was I wanna say after the Brock WrestleMania [when WWE offered a Hall of Fame induction]. Yeah, I think it was after that. In my head, I couldn't end on a match that I didn't remember. I got concussed and I don’t remember even having that match, so I wanted to at least have a match that I could remember," The Undertaker added in the same interview.
The Undertaker's Hall of Fame ceremony will take place at American Airlines Center in Dallas as part of WrestleMania Week. The following day, the "Show of the Shows" will commence and it is going to be a two-day affair. As a Hall of Fame inductee, The Undertaker is likely to make an appearance on the stage area on one or both nights of the event, according to Sportskeeda.
