  • William Regal made his AEW debut at AEW Revolution this past Sunday, March 6
  • His arrival has had fans coming up with theories on what his role will be in AEW
  • Tony Khan hints that Regal will be a key figure for the company moving forward

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) continues to prove it is becoming a game-changing force in the pro wrestling scene, and the acquisition of William Regal is a major step in the right direction.

Regal made his surprising debut for AEW at the conclusion of the match between Bryan Danielson and John Moxley (Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose in WWE respectively) at AEW Revolution this past Sunday, March 6.

Danielson and Moxley continued fighting in the ring after the latter pulled off the surprise pinfall at which point Regal entered the ring and his presence alone made both men stop the fighting.

After serving both men a heavy-handed slap in the middle of the ring, Regal forced Danielson and Moxley to shake hands that sets up an alliance moving forward.

Pro wrestling fans have since shared their theories on what Regal will be doing on AEW programming from here on out and have since intensified after he was added to the roster page under the "Coaches" section

With how things ended at AEW Revolution, Regal could be the glue that holds the unstable duo together due to his influence on both men throughout their careers as was noted by the commentary team.

Company founder and CEO Tony Khan hinted as much in the post-event media scrum and spoke highly of Regal.

“I think he can contribute on-screen in a major way to [Bryan] Danielson and he has a history with Jon Moxley. He’s very familiar with both men and they have a lot of respect for him,” remarked Khan.

“I think Regal can teach all of us a lot and it’s great to have him here, on-screen and off-screen. It came together very recently, and he fits very well with what we’re doing.”

Regal joining AEW could also bolster the rumors of Cesaro deciding to sign with the company sometime down the road to create a formidable stable with Moxley and Danielson after his shocking decision to not re-sign with the WWE.

The 53-year-old from Blackpool, England being announced as the new on-screen authority figure of the newly acquired Ring of Honor (ROH) could also be on the cards for him as his work with WWE’s NXT brand from 2014 to 2022 bolstered its superstars' credibility and confidence to perform on TV.

AEW could opt to have Regal rehash his history with Adam Cole and reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish) from NXT when the trio was known collectively as the Undisputed Era.

The rising pro wrestling organization will obviously not name drop WWE or NXT if it decides to go this route, but the thought of seeing Regal in a sort of meet-cute with the trio will be enough for the internet wrestling community to collectively lose their minds.

Khan clearly has a ton of ideas for Regal up his sleeve and it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds in the coming months.

Despite not winning any major titles throughout his career, the air of respect that Regal commands is more than enough for pro wrestling fans to closely follow his stint with AEW.
