KEY POINTS

  • Bron Breakker might be going into a program with Dolph Ziggler
  • Ziggler would be an ideal opponent for Breakker as his in-ring wrestling ability will help the latter's credibility
  • Breakker's first-ever NXT title defense will be against Santos Escobar at NXT Vengeance Day

Bron Breakker recently called out two-time World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler to a match, and the latter has since responded to the challenge.

The feud began after Breakker took a shot at Ziggler on Twitter by posting a clip of him being eliminated by recording artist Bad Bunny during the recently-concluded Royal Rumble.

Ziggler then hinted in a backstage segment that he might be going to NXT and force Breakker into a title match with him.

“Maybe one of these days those people that run their mouths online have to deal with me, in person. So maybe [Bron] Breakker and his title, maybe I take it away from him. Maybe I stop by, who’s to say? Anyway, good luck kid, keep throwing your name out online, it works for everybody,” Ziggler said as quoted by Wrestling Inc.

A week after their short war of words, it appears that Breakker is more than happy to welcome “The Show-Off” to NXT and add a victory over Ziggler to his resume.

“[Dolph Ziggler] mentioned coming to NXT and taking my title. You want the next shot after Santos, come on down. Your move,” Breakker tweeted.

The son of Rick Steiner and nephew to pro wrestling icon Scott Steiner, Breakker’s star has been on the rise since debuting with NXT in mid-September of last year before forcing then NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa to submit at New Year’s Evil.

Facing Ziggler gives Breakker his most high-profile match yet with WWE, and it is a sign that the top-tier pro wrestling company is looking to invest in his rapid development.

The 18-year WWE veteran is best known for his high work rate and ability to make wrestling moves look devastating thanks to his ability to sell contact, making his match with Breakker a must-watch for those who dream of stepping into the squared circle.

Before facing Ziggler however, the 24-year-old must successfully defend his title against NXT staple Santos Escobar at NXT Vengeance Day special on Tuesday, February 15.
