Two women’s title matches have reportedly been penciled in for Wrestlemania 36 as WWE begins building to its biggest show of the calendar year.

The first reported title match has Charlotte Flair set to challenge Rhea Ripley for the NXT Championship, which was recently shortened from NXT Women’s Championship. PWInsider said Flair is scheduled to be in Orlando for Wednesday’s episode of NXT and possibly issue the challenge.

Flair, who won the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match, earned a Wrestlemania title match against the champion of her choosing. She appeared on Raw Monday night, teasing that she would be challenging for “a championship,” though she didn’t say which.

The reported match also continues the focus WWE has put on NXT since the show went live for two hours on the USA Network in September. It was a centerpiece of the last Survivor Series emerged victorious with the most wins in the “battle for brand supremacy.” There have also been rumors of NXT having a presence on the Wrestlemania 36 card along with the typical TakeOver event the night before.

The second reported match reportedly set will have former NXT Champion Shayna Baszler challenge Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at the “grandest stage of them all.”

Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer said during a recent edition of “Wrestling Observer Radio” that Baszler was originally set to win the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble. However, the decision was changed late to Charlotte Flair and Baszler being the final elimination of the match after entering at no. 30.

No details have been revealed about how WWE will begin building up to the match, though there has been speculation that it will pull heavily from Lynch’s win over Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania and Baslzer’s real-life friendship with Rousey.
