A new report Friday said Vince McMahon has allegedly started to sour on Shayna Baszler and is questioning plans for her reported title match at Wrestlemania.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported McMahon was not pleased with Baszler’s match on Monday Night Raw against Kairi Sane. The match was originally supposed to be Baszler vs. Asuka, but Asuka was pulled after suffering a minor injury.
The match was not well received as fans in attendance began chanting “boring,” and McMahon allegedly shared the sentiment.
“Baszler was the original pick to win the Rumble only to have McMahon a week out change plans to Charlotte Flair and have Baszler win the Chamber,” Meltzer said. “But there was negativity and uncertainty regarding McMahon’s reaction to Baszler’s match with Kairi Sane on Raw not getting the desired reaction and Baszler not coming off like a WrestleMania headliner.”
McMahon’s reaction reportedly has produced question marks around Baszler’s planned match at Wrestlemania for the Raw Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch. She reportedly was penciled in to win the No. 1 contender’s elimination chamber match at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view on Sunday.
However, his negative reaction reportedly has people backstage thinking that could change.
Metlzer’s report comes after a report on Thursday that McMahon was upset with plans for Monday’s episode of Raw and did a complete rewrite of the show. Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live that McMahon’s reaction and rewrite were “worse than usual.”
