  • Roman Reigns has been replaced by Strawman at the WrestleMania 36
  • Reigns pulled out of the event due to coronavirus fears
  • WrestleMania 36 will be aired on April 5 and 6

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar Roman Reigns has opened up on his decision of pulling out of the much-awaited event, WrestleMania 36.

It was disappointing news for the WWE Universe when Roman Reigns announced that he would not be participating at the upcoming edition of WrestleMania because of safety fears amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

After battling leukemia for years, Roman Reigns’ immune system could be compromised and it would not be safe for him to expose himself right now and WWE has honored his decision.

“For all my fans, I'm sorry I didn't get to compete this year and put on a show and entertain. Sometimes, things are more important and I had to make a choice for me and my family, but no matter what, you already know the deal. Man, I sure made that town. I made it to Orlando. I had to make a decision for me, but it doesn't take anything away from what I've done and what I'm going to do. I still love this game, I still love pro wrestling, sports entertainment. I still love being in the ring,” Roman Reigns said in a message to his fans on social media.

Roman Reigns was supposed to fight Goldberg for the WWE Universal title. While there were rumors that WWE could scrap the event from this year’s WrestleMania, following Roman Reigns’ withdrawal, it was later revealed that the WWE Company has decided to replace Roman Reigns with another superstar so they could go ahead with the planned bout.

Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin broke the news that Braun Strawman has replaced Roman Reigns to take on Goldberg in the Universal title fight.

One of WWE’s bosses, Triple H, reacted to Roman Reigns’ news as he confirmed that WWE will back all its employees during these tough times.

“You know, there are various talents, and I don't wanna get into the specifics of WrestleMania because that's a must-see event, but we don't like to take precautions with our talent, any more so than we need to, and all of our talents are in this in a voluntary capacity."

"If they don't want to be a part of this, they feel there's a risk, for whatever reasons, be it themselves or somebody around them, they don't have to be here. Nothing is held against them for that. Same with our crew and everybody else. We don't want to take chances on that, and with Roman having a pre-existing condition, that would make him more susceptible to something, it's understandable,” said Triple H.

WrestleMania 36 has already been taped at WWE’s Performance Center in Florida and will be aired on April 5 and 6.
