WWE: Roman Reigns, Wrestlers, Fans React To Goldberg Winning Championship

KEY POINTS
- Bray Wyatt has been on a massive push lately with his new persona as The Fiend
- Goldberg defeated Wyatt to win the WWE Universal Championship
- People were not pleased with the result of the match
Bray Wyatt has been one of the best stretches he’s had in the WWE with his new persona The Fiend. His reign as the WWE Universal Champion has been met with positive regard. The creativity of his dual personality of children’s host coupled with the unbeatable and frightening image has propelled the gimmick to success.
The supernatural character he brings as The Fiend has been used to portray an indestructible force ready to manhandle any superstar that comes across his path. The push he’s been getting has turned his career up a notch. A twist in Wyatt’s new character is his strength and durability to take multiple finishers without missing a beat. In his feud against Seth Rollins, the Monday Night Messiah from time and time again kept hitting The Fiend with multiple curbs stomps to no avail.
Unfortunately for the Firefly Fun House host, this aura of invincibility has come to an end. His momentum as the top star of Smackdown was abruptly stopped with the emergence of Goldberg to the championship scene.
The two battled it out in the Saudi Arabia pay per view Super ShowDown. The match was expected to be quick with the trend Goldberg has had in recent appearances. True enough, the matchup between the two lasted for around three minutes and included a multitude of spears and ended with a jackhammer.
This caused multiple reactions from people across social media. Roman Reigns shared that if he were to pick a match between Wyatt or Goldberg, he would have wanted to face The Fiend in Wrestlemania. He emphasized that he’s looking into the future of the company now.

"I would much rather face The Fiend. ... No offense to Goldberg, I think he's a great performer, he's a great superstar, but I'm into the future right now."

One fan page reacted after the match with a gif of the classic moment where Scott Hall electrocuted Goldberg, costing him his historic 173-win streak in WCW.
My favourite #Goldberg moment!! pic.twitter.com/EwnqpS3LlA

Hall took notice of this and shared that he better dust off his taser for Goldberg.
Fans were displeased with the ending with the sentiment that Goldberg is burying top talent in the company – blaming the management for taking advantage of nostalgia rather than writing quality booking.
Nice to see Goldberg move on from the jackhammer to just doing a suplex. Gotta save himself in his old age. #SuperShowdown https://t.co/9e1M6Vgcz8

#WWESSD Props to Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg for putting their egos to the side and putting over the younger talent today pic.twitter.com/rXCYL3NBfZ

We don't have to pretend Bray Bray Wyatt is some kind of super worker, but pretending 53 year old Goldberg is on his level is odd.

Wyatt had good matches with Bryan, Balor, Ambrose, Sheamus, Jericho and Cena. Not great, but a level that Goldberg wouldn't be able to reach today.
