WWE Royal Rumble 2015: Match Card, Predictions, Preview For Start Of Road To WrestleMania 31
The road to WrestleMania 31 begins on Sunday night with the 2015 Royal Rumble pay-per-view. The event will determine who’ll challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31, and it could also see multiple title changes.
The Royal Rumble comes on the heels of one of the most event-filled episodes of “Monday Night Raw” in recent weeks. Not only did Sting make his first ever appearance on the show, but John Cena helped get Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan rehired, all of whom are expected to compete in the Royal Rumble match.
WWE is hoping this year’s PPV doesn’t go the way of last year’s show. At the 2014 Royal Rumble, the fans booed the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Cena and Randy Orton. The crowd was irate when it became apparent that Daniel Bryan wouldn’t be in the 30-man battle royal, and Batista was booed when he won a spot in the main event of WrestleMania 30.
There are six matches on the card, including the pre-show. Below are predictions for Royal Rumble 2015.
Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins (WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match)
When Lesnar won the title at SummerSlam, it appeared he would hold the belt until WrestleMania 31. However, reports indicate that he won’t sign a new contract with WWE, following the year’s biggest PPV, making it more and more likely that the company will take the title off him. Because the match is a triple threat, Lesnar can lose the championship without getting pinned. Cena might have the best chance of winning the match, but Rollins could use his Money in the Bank briefcase to leave the PPV as the champ.
Prediction: John Cena
Royal Rumble Match
Roman Reigns might not be ready to headline WrestleMania 31, but that might not matter much to WWE. The former Shield member has been pushed more than any other superstar in the past year, and appears destined to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in March. Daniel Bryan continues to get the biggest pops of anyone on the roster, and there’s a chance he’ll be the last man standing, but no other wrestler has much of a chance to win the match.
Prediction: Roman Reigns
The Usos vs. The Miz & Mizdow (Tag Team Championship Match)
The Miz & Mizdow have lost to The Usos multiple times, since losing the belts. There have already been some signs that the tag team could break up, and a miscommunication in the Royal Rumble match could be the impetus for The Miz vs. Mizdow at WrestleMania 31.
Prediction: The Usos
The New Age Outlaws vs. The Ascension
The Ascension hasn’t gotten over very well in their first few appearances on “Monday Night Raw,” and the purpose of them facing Billy Gunn and Road Dogg is to give them a win over an established opponent.
Prediction: The Ascension
Paige & Natalya vs. The Bella Twins
Since Nikki Bella has the Divas Championship, Paige and Natalya need the victory more.
Prediction: Paige & Natalya
The New Day vs. Cesaro, Tyson Kidd and Adam Rose (Kickoff Match)
Cesaro, Tyson Kidd and Adam Rose are not a trio that will last very long, and while The New Day might not have much of a future as a tag team, the babyfaces usually win on the pre-show.
Prediction: The New Day
