KEY POINTS
- Drew McIntyre lines up for a potential WWE Universal Title shot following the 2021 Draft
- McIntyre may face either Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns after WWE Crown Jewel
- SmackDown ends up loaded with big names after this year's draft
Drew McIntyre is a former WWE Champion, looking at another crack to have a belt around his waist.
Following the results of the 2021 WWE Draft, it appears he will be aiming to get his hands on the Universal Title held by Roman Reigns next.
McIntyre was drafted to SmackDown last Friday, October 1 in the second round of the WWE Draft.
This came after Reigns was also drafted in the first round, making sure that "The Tribal Chief" will be staying with the blue brand.
Reigns is coming off a successful title defense at 2021 Extreme Rules, winning over Finn Balor.
In the most recent edition of SmackDown, Reigns was addressing the crowd about his latest conquest. That was before Brock Lesnar came out to spice up things.
Reigns and Lesnar are set to battle at 2021 WWE Crown Jewel, a long-awaited clash that may have dire repercussions.
Both men have battled in the past, and most know how colossal this match will be.
WWE Crown Jewel is slated to take place on October 21 at 12:00 p.m. E.T. on Peacock with Reigns’ Universal Title on the line.
With weeks to go before that WWE pay-per-view, it will be interesting if McIntyre will stick his nose in the Reigns-Lesnar storyline. That could be known as early as the next SmackDown episode.
In a previous post, McIntyre had already made it known that he intends to become champion again.
At that time, he just didn’t know if it was for the WWE Championship held by Big E or the Universal Title held by "The Big Dog."
It was already hinted in that same post that the Scottish wrestler was headed to SmackDown. Unsurprisingly, the 36-year-old had his sights set on the Universal Title.
