WWE Rumors: Daniel Bryan Tosses Name As Potential Roman Reigns Opponent For WrestleMania 37
KEY POINTS
- Daniel Bryan is looking to win the 2021 Royal Rumble
- Bryan vs. Reigns may or may not happen at WrestleMania 37
- Goldberg vs. Reigns is still the top choice, but Bryan could be a back-up plan
WrestleMania 37 is set to happen nearly three months from now, but speculations on who reigning WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns could face have started to surface.
There have been several names suggested and one familiar face has joined the fray in Daniel Bryan.
The many-time former WWE Champion rocked the boat a bit as far as who the "Tribal Chief" could share the ring next. The WWE Royal Rumble is one of the much-awaited pay-per-view events for 2021 where Bryan will be taking part in.
Appearing on Talking Smack, the 39-year-old is currently embroiled in a feud with Reigns’ cousin Jey Uso.
Though this may be his ticket to get a crack at Reigns and his Universal title, it complicates things on who the "Big Dog" will face on the "Grandest Stage of Them All."
“If I win the Royal Rumble, that means that I will go to WrestleMania and face whoever’s the Universal Champion. And Paul, I don’t lay claim to being better than many people, at certain things. But I’ll tell you this - I’m a better fighter than Roman Reigns, and I sure as hell am a better wrestler than Roman Reigns,” Bryan said.
As mentioned in a previous post, the one most feel would be best to face Reigns is Bill Goldberg. The 54-year-old took a jab at the champion and pointed out how their WrestleMania 36 showdown never took place.
Furthermore, he accused the 35-year-old of stealing his signature move, The Spear.
Of course, Bryan’s pitch may be a fair warning to Reigns beyond WrestleMania 37. Assuming he faces Goldberg, it could be a short-lived title reign for the WWE Hall of Famer if he comes out on top.
Then again, Reigns could end up retaining the title in what could be a passing of the torch as far as "The Spear" finisher is concerned.
As for other names, it may be too soon to throw Big E into the mix. He recently won the WWE Intercontinental Championship and there is no clear storyline linking him to Reigns.
Though there are months left before WrestleMania 37 to do that, rushing it with no clear angle may not turn out good for the promotion.
The 2021 Royal Rumble should be interesting with Bryan a person to watch. But for now, he needs to close out the storyline with Uso.
