KEY POINTS

  • The clash between Bill Goldberg and Roman Reigns may be happening soon
  • Goldberg feels that Reigns is underperforming as SmackDown's champion
  • The match could happen in early 2021

Bill Goldberg has not seen action since WrestleMania 36 where he lost the WWE Universal title to Braun Strowman.

He was originally set to face Roman Reigns, but the "Big Dog" pulled out due to pandemic-related matters.

With the “Battle of Spears” left unsettled, the WWE Hall of Famer wants to revisit his unfinished business with Reigns. He hinted at that possibility when he recently appeared on The Bump, taking a proverbial jab at the reigning Universal Champion.

In the interview, Goldberg lashed out at Reigns for backing out at Wrestlemania 36. Aside from that, he accused the 35-year-old star of stealing his signature move.

Finally, Goldberg also mentioned that Reigns was not performing up to par.

The Tulsa, Oklahoma native was one of the names mentioned as potentially returning to work with Reigns. Other luminaries in the mix per Wrestle Talk include Big E, Daniel Bryan and Drew McIntyre.

With Goldberg firing the opening shots, the only question right now is when this will happen. It could come as early as the WWE TLC pay-per-view event on Dec. 20.

If not, a Goldberg vs. Reigns clash could take place at either WWE Elimination Chamber or even the WWE Royal Rumble in January.

Reigns is currently in a storyline involving Kevin Owens. However, this is considered a short-term feud.

The attention is really on Reigns’ real-life cousin Jey Uso. Considering he has been lambasted by his relative, the former tag team champion is expected to end up in another match with the multiple-time champion.

It will be interesting if this will hold until WrestleMania 37. There are rumors that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is being wooed to duke it out with Reigns. However, this may be subject to his availability.
