WWE Rumors: Ronda Rousey Could Return In 2020, Undertaker Signs New Deal

Ronda Rousey was expected to be part of the Monday Night Raw episode the day after WrestleMania but despite being backstage at the Barclays Center in New York, she failed to make an appearance. It was supposed to be a last appearance before she takes a hiatus from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion headlined WrestleMania 35 alongside Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch – the first time the women’s division has done so in the history of WWE’s flagship pay-per-view show. Rousey lost the triple-threat match when she was pinned by Lynch, who claimed both the Raw and SmackDown Live women’s titles.

Rousey injured her hand during the main event and she was heard telling her mother she may have broken her knuckle, which was one of the reasons she did not make an appearance on Raw the night after WrestleMania. According to Fightful, the UFC Hall of Famer will undergo surgery Tuesday, which is likely to keep her out of action for the foreseeable future.

The report claimed WWE officials were hoping she could return to the squared circle at the end of the year or in early 2020 at the latest. Rousey is contracted to the world’s most popular pro-wrestling promotion until 2021.

However, she has not been advertised for any upcoming WWE events and was expected to take a long hiatus even before the injury. She is yet to confirm her plans, but multiple reports claimed she would take a break from fighting and could concentrate on starting a family with husband Travis Browne.

Meanwhile, another WWE legend who has been absent from the ring since November could be making more regular appearances in the coming months after signing a new deal with the company.

The Undertaker, who has not been seen in a WWE arena for months, made his first appearance during Raw after WrestleMania when he interrupted Elias and put him through a tombstone pile driver. The Deadman, according to Wrestling News, has signed a new contract with WWE and is expected to fight Elias in the upcoming Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia later in the year.

The WWE legend was taking bookings for non-WWE events, leading to questions if he was still a part of the promotion. WWE chairman Vince McMahon was said to be disgruntled when he heard about Undertaker’s appearance at Starrcast, which is taking place on the same weekend as All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) first live event “Double or Nothing”.

The new contract talks reportedly started immediately after WWE became aware about Undertaker’s Starrcast appearance and Dave Meltzer has now confirmed he signed a deal that will see him decline any bookings not WWE-related.
