Daniel Bryan has always been a fan-favorite, mostly because he managed to fight through adversity against seasoned and bigger wrestlers. But since his heel-turn, his reign as champion could come to an end, passing it to someone from the Smackdown roster. But the question right now is who would the crown go to?

There are several names that come to mind like Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles. The former wrested the WWE championship from the “Phenomenal One” on Nov. 13, a time that also signaled the heel-turn of the 37-year-old wrestler. A low blow to Styles allowed Bryan to win the WWE title for the fourth time in his career. The two did have a rematch at WWE TLC with “The New” Daniel Bryan successfully defending his title.

The heel-turn, Bryan’s first since 2012, has now come into full circle. And so far, he has been doing well. It has become a big turnaround, with Bryan sitting out nearly two years due to health-related issues, Forbes reported. Looking ahead, the interest is on who may eventually dethrone “The New” Daniel Bryan. Sportskeeda mentioned some potential names such as The Miz, Rey Mysterio and John Cena.

Of the three mentioned names, The Miz and Mysterio are plausible choices. The Miz and Bryan do have a history, but their roles have been reversed. The Miz is currently tied up to a storyline for the WWE Smackdown commissioner’s post, ironically something Bryan once held. A match with the position on the line could be possible.

Mysterio, one of the babyfaces in the WWE, could be a good partner for Bryan. He is well-loved and could help raise the WWE rankings, not to mention spark a new rivalry that wrestling fans will tune into.

John Cena, who has been often returning, could be a wise choice to challenge Bryan, although this may not be a longterm deal. Seeing as how he has been kept busy in Hollywood, his return could be shortlived, hence making a title-reign senseless.

These are, of course, three names who could challenge Bryan, but Styles remains the likely rival he may face. The “Phenomenal One” appeared on WWE Smackdown, and Vince McMahon got into his face with Bryan as the topic. It seemed to have rekindled a fire inside Styles, leading to an attack. From the looks of it, a Styles vs. Bryan rivalry is far from over, with the McMahons dipping their hands in this one.
