  • Kevin Owens reveals that WWE boss Vince McMahon inspired him to re-sign
  • He previously mentioned that securing his family was his top priority
  • Owens gets to share the WrestleMania 38 spotlight with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

The decision for Kevin Owens to stay with WWE despite him being rumored to jumping ship to another pro wrestling promotion was a surprising development.

Many had thought that the former NXT Champion was surely leaving the company after seeing so many of his fellow NXT alumni depart from the top-tier pro-wrestling organization.

WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon had played a major role in convincing him to stay, according to Owens in an interview with former UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

“I have a lot of friends everywhere else in wrestling, but there is a whole side of WWE that people don’t get to see… They’re all very special people and they’re a part of my family… Those were all factors that led to me staying put because Vince [McMahon] made it clear he wanted me to stay,” Owens happily said.

Back in December, the 37-year-old announced that he had decided to stay with WWE because of his family and the financial security that it affords him.

Owens has become one of the most dependable superstars on WWE’s roster as his ability to have a worthwhile feud with anybody can allow the organization to put him anywhere on the card.

On the upcoming WrestleMania 38 card, Owens has the responsibility of welcoming back "Stone Cold" Steve Austin as he hosts a special episode of The Kevin Owens Show on Night 1.

Having the Texas Rattlesnake on any form of WWE programming is a sure guarantee that a few people will get hit by the Stunner at some point and Owens himself might be on the receiving end of one after their in-ring segment.

Owens has been using the move in recent months, and it could be them discussing this point that sees Austin give him one before celebrating in front of the Texas crowd.

While a title reign does not seem to be in the cards for Owens at this point, the fact that McMahon trusts him to this degree speaks volumes of his value to the promotion.

Should everything go according to plan at the company’s biggest show of the year, WWE's head honcho may just grant him and Sami Zayn's wish to go after the tag titles.
