KEY POINTS

  • Roman Reigns' fight could be first night's main event at WrestleMania 36
  • He is set to face off against Goldberg for the Universal title
  • WrestleMania 36 will be aired on April 5 and 6

The WrestleMania match between Roman Reigns and Goldberg reportedly could be one of the two main-event fights at the upcoming WrestleMania 36.

The Show of the Shows is going to be a lot different from the previous years. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, it is going to take place without an audience and it will be a two-day event this time around that would mean, there are going to be two main-eventing fights, which are not decided yet.

However, the latest news reports say that even though there was a plan for Becky Lynch and Shayna Baszler to close the Saturday show at one point, there’s been a push to have Roman Reigns and Goldberg to get that slot now.

Roman Reigns recently surprised the WWE Universe when he said he does not care if his match does not fall among the two main event fights and is just happy to compete on the card, as he gets to share the ring with a legend, Goldberg.

“Don’t care where my match falls. Just happy to be healthy and fit enough to participate. Grateful to share the ring with a legend and icon on our industry’s biggest night(s) - as should everyone else, in a time like this. Be safe, healthy and grateful,” Roman Reigns wrote on Twitter.

The Big Dog’s remarks came after Drew McIntyre, who is set to fight Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36, mentioned that he believes they should be the main event of the second night while Edge vs. Randy Orton should headline the first night.

WrestleMania 36, the venue of which was shifted from Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium to WWE’s Performance Center, will be aired on April 5 and 6. It is understood that approximately 16 matches are scheduled and the much-awaited bout for this year’s WrestleMania are - Roman Reigns vs Goldberg (Universal Championship), Randy Orton vs Edge, Drew McIntyre vs Brock Lesnar (WWE Championship) and Becky Lynch vs Shayna Baszler (RAW Women's Championship).

Goldberg, who won the Universal Championship from Bray Wyatt at Super ShowDown this year, then challenged Roman Reigns for a fight. The Big Dog then answered Goldberg’s challenge on SmackDown declaring he would win the Blue Championship next. After this feud received excellent attention, WWE did not give Bray Wyatt another shot at the Universal Championship and instead, he could face off against John Cena in a WrestleMania rematch.

If Goldberg and Roman Reigns bag first night’s spot for the main event, the WWE Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre will mostly be the main event for the second night.
