KEY POINTS

  • Xavier Woods and Carmella are predicted to win WWE's new tournaments, according to a pro wrestling podcast
  • Rick Boogs and Naomi are also floated as potential picks to win it all
  • King of the Ring played a major role in the rise of many of WWE's "Attitude Era" stars

WWE fans are making their predictions for the return of the famous King of the Ring tournament, with an inaugural women’s edition dubbed “Queen’s Crown”.

During their review of the first round of the WWE draft, the Going in Raw podcast made their picks for both tournaments.

“The Enforcer” Stevie B selected Carmella to win the Queen’s Crown tournament and Xavier Woods for King of the Ring.

“I think they (WWE) are going to do a joke, flukey one. You know what, somehow, they’re going to work that Carmella-having-a-mask protector thing [into something] so I’m going to go with Carmella,” said Stevie B.

“I know people are a bit [iffy] on Carmella."

Stevie B also said that he selected Woods to win the King of the Ring because the New Day member has been lobbying to win it for quite some time now.

“To me, the crown is a representation of passing the test. As an academic, I want to be tested. I don't necessarily think that I've earned anything because I have yet to be tested in the way that I feel a king would be tested,” Woods stated in September on the "Into the Danger Zone" podcast.

Steve, the other co-host of the Going in Raw podcast, made more surprising picks in Naomi and Rick Boogs.

“I’m going to say it’s Naomi because she’s in a thing with [Smackdown general manager] Sonya Deville right now and I think it’s pretty decent, so [Naomi] can like stick it to her,” he said of the Naomi pick.

He also chose Boogs because it would be a complement to Shinsuke Nakamura’s current “king” gimmick, but he admitted that he would hate to see it happen.

The King of the Ring catapulted superstars like Brock Lesnar, Triple H and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to superstardom during their in-ring careers.

WWE announced on social media that the first round of both tournaments will start on October 8, and the finals are projected to be held at the WWE’s Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 22.

Woods, Cesaro, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan are some of the names that would benefit greatly from winning their respective tournaments in impressive fashion.
