WWE TLC 2015: Results, Recap For Every Match On The Card [VIDEO]
In what was the final WWE pay-per-view of 2015, TLC more than delivered on Sunday night in Boston. While the product has been lackluster with declining ratings in recent weeks, the PPV was a much needed step in the right direction as WWE approaches the road to WrestleMania.
After the undercard saw a few matches exceed expectations, the PPV culminated with the main event between Roman Reigns and Sheamus. But the most important part of the night came after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match when Reigns set up a future match with Triple H, likely at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 32.
Tired of being screwed out of winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Reigns took his frustrations out on Sheamus, beating him with a chair until The Authority came out to stop him. Reigns then beat up Triple H, eventually putting him through the Spanish announce table. After being hit with a devastating Spear, Triple H was carried off by paramedics.
Before the main event, seven matches took place at TLC 2015. Below are the results, as well as a recap for the entire card.
Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns (WWE World Heavyweight Championship TLC Match)
It was a hard-hitting match that ended in predictable fashion. With Reigns ready to climb the ladder and win the title, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio interfered in the match and kept him from grabbing the title. Sheamus delivered a final Brogue Kick, giving him enough time to retain the championship. But there were some very good spots before the League of Nations made their appearance, including Reigns delivering a Superman Punch that knocked Sheamus off the ladder and into a table.
Winner: Sheamus
Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose (Intercontinental Championship Match)
In the only upset of the night, Ambrose beat Owens and won his first singles title since the breakup of The Shield. It was a creative finish with Ambrose reversing the Pop-up Powerbomb and rolling up Owens to get the pinfall. It appeared that Owens’ shoulders might not have been on the mat, but instead on Ambrose’s legs.
Winner: Dean Ambrose
The New Day vs. The Lucha Dragons vs. The Usos (Tag Team Championship Ladder Match)
The New Day was able to keep the championship with help from Xavier Woods, who wasn’t an official participant in the match. He was a guest commentator during the match, but he interfered and threw his trombone at Kalisto, who was on the ladder and about to make The Lucha Dragons champions. That allowed Kofi Kingston to climb the ladder and grab the belts.
Winner: The New Day
Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger (United States Championship Chairs Match)
It’s no surprise that Del Rio was able to retain. There had been speculation that Del Rio’s split with Zeb Coulter might have been a swerve, but the manager didn’t make an appearance on Sunday. Del Rio used the stipulation to his advantage, pinning Swagger after double-stopping him off the top rope onto a chair.
Winner: Alberto Del Rio
The Dudley Boyz, Tommy Dreamer & Rhyno vs. The Wyatt Family (8-Man Elimination Tables Match)
Erick Rowan was the first person to be sent through a table, but he was the only member of The Wyatt Family to be eliminated. Braun Strowman had a dominant performance, and Bray Wyatt ended the match by putting Bubba Ray Dudley through a table. Bubba Ray had previously doused the table in lighter fluid, but he was unable to use it to his advantage.
Winner: The Wyatt Family
Charlotte vs. Paige (Divas Championship Match)
It was just a few weeks ago that Paige was making fun of Charlotte’s deceased brother, but now Charlotte is almost a full-fledged heel. With Ric Flair in her corner, Charlotte was able to avoid a loss when her dad pulled her legs onto the bottom rope. After the WWE Hall of Famer distracted the ref, Charlotte exposed a turnbuckle and used it to defeat Paige.
Winner: Charlotte
Rusev vs. Ryback
A late addition to the card, Rusev was able to defeat Ryback with help from Lana. Rusev’s fiancée pretended to be injured, distracting Ryback and allowing Rusev to eventually lock in the Accolade.
Winner: Rusev
Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch (Kickoff Match)
Sasha was able to win with some help from Tamina and Naomi at ringside, forcing Becky to tap out to the Bank Statement. But Becky could be on her way to getting a title shot, as tensions continue to rise between her and Charlotte.
Winner: Sasha Banks
