Wyoming Teacher Had Sex With 14-Year-Old Student, Asked Her For Nude Photos

A former Wyoming middle school teacher, who was charged with sexually abusing a teen, plans to plead guilty, Natrona County District Attorney Dan Itzen told a local daily on Wednesday.

According to the court documents, accessed by local daily Star-Tribune, the accused, identified as 36-year-old Jason Waugaman, sexually abused a 14-year-old student. Waugaman worked for the Natrona County School District. He taught the seventh grade for a month as a substitute teacher during the 2014-15 school year. He then began messaging the seventh-grader. The accused told the teen that he loved her and asked her to send him nude photos of herself. Though initially hesitant, the girl complied. The two then met outside the school for the first in summer 2016 and had sex in the backseat of his car.

In January this year, the girl informed the police about the incident. An investigator then asked the girl if she would contact the man again. The girl messaged Waugaman and during a conversation, the man “graphically described” having sex with the girl and told her he “wished they could do it again.” In a phone call on Jan. 15, the accused told the victim that he loved her and also asked her if she 18.

Waugaman was detained for questioning. He told the officers that his relationship with the girl was “strictly professional” and denied talking “about topics of a sexual nature.” He was taken into custody and charged with sexual abuse of a minor. He was also fired by the school district. In January-end, police said the accused had multiple victims. However, no additional information was released. The accused was scheduled to appear in court on May 7.

The incident comes days after a former Michigan teacher was jailed for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old student. The student and 36-year-old Denny Dean Holt exchanged numbers in November 2016 and met outside the school in December. The two then had sex in his car and went on to have sexual intercourse almost 15 times in the next six months. The accused was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced to one-year imprisonment.
