‘The X-Files’: David Duchovny Shares Throwback Poster On Show’s 24th Anniversary
“The X-Files” star David Duchovny marked the show’s 24th anniversary on Saturday by sharing a throwback poster of the Fox series on Instagram.
As seen in Duchovny’s post, the black-and-white poster was used to promote the show ahead of its series premiere on Sept. 10, 1993. The poster features FBI agents Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) as well as a glowing figure of a man in the woods. In the caption, Duchovny thanked the fans for keeping the show alive 24 years after it debuted.
Anderson also took to social media to commemorate the anniversary. In a tweet, Anderson thanked Duchovny for “repeatedly standing in the mud [and] the rain with her.”
Duchovny replied, saying that’s what partners are for.
Duchovny and Anderson are reprising their roles as Mulder and Scully in the upcoming Season 11 of “The X-Files.” While the new season won’t premiere until next year, fans of the sci-fi drama won’t wait that long to see a sneak peek from the new installment.
According to TVLine, 20th Century Fox Television announced last week that the first footage from Season 11 will be unveiled next month at New York Comic-Con during a panel featuring Duchovny, Anderson, Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner) and series creator Chris Carter. The panel will be held on Sunday, Oct. 9, on the Javits Center’s Main Stage.
While plot details about Season 11 are scarce, David Madden — who recently vacated his position as chief of Fox’s entertainment division — revealed at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour last month that Mulder and Scully are going to look for their son, William, next season.
“We start the season right up from where the season finale left off with that big helicopter and takes you right from there,” Madden said (via Entertainment Weekly) of where Season 11 picks up. “You’ll be [then] launched into a very urgent adventure that has a lot to do with William — Mulder and Scully’s kid. So the search for William will be a significant thread through the show.”
Aside from Duchovny, Anderson and Pileggi, Season 11 will also see the return of William B. Davis (Cigarette Smoking Man), Annabeth Gish (Monica Reyes), Robbie Amell (Agent Miller) and Lauren Ambrose (Agent Einstein).
