Ronnie Raymond has joined the cast of "The X-Files," and fans of all things nerdy cannot contain their excitement. Robbie Amell, the Firestorm actor on the CW's "The Flash" is pretty happy about it as well. The actor posted a few photos of him on set of Fox's "X-Files" mini-series reboot alongside co-star Gillian Anderson, and it looks like the two are enjoying themselves.

Amell took to Twitter Tuesday night to share his excitement about filming the "The X-Files." The first picture shows Amell alongside Anderson with a caption referencing the show's iconic tagline.

Then, Amell commented on a photo posted by Anderson on her Twitter account that showed the pair sporting black "X-Files" hats.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Amell will appear in the six-episode reboot as FBI Agent Miller, a "smart and smooth" field operative partnered with Agent Einstein, played by Lauren Ambrose. Together, the pair represents the new generation taking over for the veterans Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (David Duchovny). Amell and Ambrose join an impressive cast for the mini-series, which includes returning stars Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis, as well as Joel McHale, Annet Mahendru, Rhys Darby and Kumail Nanjiani. However, fans will have to wait a bit to see Amell and Ambrose -- or rather, Miller and Einstein -- on-screen. The duo will not appear until episode 4.

Fan anticipation for the new episodes intensified recently after a release of a few short teasers showing Scully and Mulder back in action. In a tantalizingly short exchange, Mulder asks, "Are you ready for this, Scully?" "I don't know if there's a choice," answers Anderson's Scully.

What will Amell's character bring to the reboot? Fans will have to wait to find out. "The X-Files" mini-series is set to premiere on Jan. 24, 2016. Meanwhile, Amell will return much earlier as Ronnie Raymond in Season 2 of "The Flash" this fall.
