'X-Files' Spoilers: Episode 1 Synopsis Released Online; What Will Happen In 'My Struggle'? [VIDEO]
The truth is still out there on Fox's "The X-Files." After 13 years, agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) will once again be searching for answers to the unknown in the first episode of the six-part miniseries, titled "My Struggle." What will draw the two back into their old jobs when the popular sci-fi premieres?
According to the synopsis, Mulder and Scully reunite thanks to a "popular web-TV-show host" named Tad O'Malley (Joel McHale). O'Malley turns to the former agents for help with investigating a government conspiracy.
Mulder and Scully will be introduced to a woman named Sveta (Annet Mahendru), who says she is the victim of alien abduction. As if that's not disturbing enough, Sveta will also share other "startling" news with the agents.
"In 2002, the FBI closed the X-Files and our investigation ceased, but my personal obsession did not," Mulder says in the promo video, which shows a UFO crashing in the desert. Mulder believes him and Scully have been "deceived" throughout all their years of work and says they've "never been in more danger" from the government.
When the show returns, Mulder and Scully will no longer be in a relationship with one another. The premiere episode is expected to explain what the split the two partners apart, but "The X-Files" will force them to work side-by-side once again.
In addition to Mulder and Scully, their former boss, Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) will also be returning to the series. They are going to have to deal show's infamous villain, Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis), who will be back after it appeared he was killed in the show's original finale.
