'X-Men: Apocalypse' Star Ben Hardy's Angel Learns To Fly In New Photo
Ben Hardy, who will play Angel in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” is learning to fly for his role. In a recent Twitter post, Hardy, a star of the U.K.'s "EastEnders," can be seen taking flying lessons. He appears to be wearing a skydiving suit and getting ready for a dive in a tunnel.
In the comics, Angel is better known as Archangel and his alter ego is Warren Kenneth Worthington III. He is a mutant and possesses large feathered wings. He is the heir to the immensely successful corporation Worthington Industries. He has a reputation as an egocentric playboy.
Hardy’s Angel in “X-Men: Apocalypse” might join the forces of evil, director Bryan Singer hinted in an interview with Empire magazine. Singer said, “Ben Hardy is Angel -- I shall confirm it for you. But he's not a very nice Angel! And that's all I'll say," Express reported. The director also shared concept art of Angel on Instagram where he's in a black and gray costume. The character appears to have a half-shaved head and blond hair in the crown area.
Singer captioned it, “Always happy to share some cool stuff with my favorite film magazine @empiremagazine #XmenApocalypse more to come on their April 30th issue.”
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is shooting in Montreal. Singer is directing from a screenplay by Simon Kinberg. Singer and Kinberg also penned the story with Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty. Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are set to lead the cast, which also includes James McAvoy, Oscar Isaac, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Lucas Till, Lana Condor and Olivia Munn.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is the sequel to 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which was a major box-office success and was nominated for an Academy Award for visual effects. It will open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
