Xavi Reacts To Barcelona's 2-0 Loss: 'We Were Better, We Messed Up'
KEY POINTS

- Barcelona's next fixture is a league game at home Saturday
FC Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez was left frustrated after his side lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Despite being outplayed in the first half, Bayern Munich pulled off a victory over Xavi's side with goals from Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane.
In his first return to Allianz Arena, Robert Lewandowski had a forgettable outing as he missed quite a few chances that cost his new club the game.
In a post-match interview, Xavi did not hold up his emotions as he said he was "p**sed" because he believed Barcelona deserved to be on the winning side.
"I'm p*ssed off. I'm p*ssed off. I don't like to lose - and we didn't deserve it. I think we were better, we dominated them. We were better. But this is the Champions League. The process was good, but the result was bad. It was a golden opportunity to win at this stadium, and we leave with a defeat. I'm p**sed off," Xavi was quoted by Goal.com.
Speaking about Bayern Munich's performance, Xavi said the Bundesliga champions "don't forgive in front of goal."
"We had 6 or 7 clear chances to score. The first half was ours. We did enough not only to draw, but we should have won. We should learn from our mistakes and keep working hard. I'm mad because we should have won. We played a match to win. Lewandowski missed chances, Pedri got two, Raphinha from outside the box... this is disappointing and unfair," Xavi later told reporters, soccer outlet Barca Universal reported.
The Barcelona head coach also pointed out that while Bayern was a "built team," his side was still "under construction."
"You could say that Bayern already have a built team. We're under construction, only at the beginning of our journey," added Xavi.
Bayern Munich are very much in control of Group C with six points from two games, while Barcelona are in second place with three points. The Catalans are level on three points with Inter Milan, who beat Viktoria Plzen 2-0 through goals from Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries.
Xavi's side will look to return to winning ways when they host Elche at Camp Nou on Saturday in La Liga. With 13 points from five games, Barcelona are placed second in the 2022-23 league table, two points behind Real Madrid.
