Xbox Game Pass: ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ To Be Added On May 7
KEY POINTS
- Microsoft is adding "Red Dead Redemption 2" in its Xbox Game Pass subscription service
- The game will be available on May 7
- In return, however, "GTA 5" will be removed from the platform
Microsoft is not yet done giving surprises to its Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Now, they are set to bring one of the most popular action-adventure games to date.
In an announcement on the Xbox website, community manager Megan Spurr revealed that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be available to Xbox Game Pass for console on May 7. It was not disclosed, however, for how long it will be in the subscription service.
Released in 2018, the game is the third installment in the “Red Dead” series and serves as a prequel to the 2010 iteration. Set in 1899, the story follows Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang, who are “outlaws in the run.”
“Now featuring additional Story Mode content and a fully-featured Photo Mode, ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ also includes free access to the shared living world of Red Dead Online, where players take on an array of roles to carve their own unique path on the frontier as they track wanted criminals as a Bounty Hunter, create a business as a Trader, unearth exotic treasures as a Collector or run an underground distillery as a Moonshiner and much more,” Spurr further shared in the announcement.
While the addition of “Red Dead Redemption 2” is certainly good news, Spurr also delivered some unfortunate development. Apparently, “Grand Theft Auto V” will only be available on Xbox Game Pass until May 7 as well.
However, subscribers can still purchase the game for 20% off while it’s still in the Xbox Game Pass library.
For what it’s worth though, Xbox has been ramping up their content in their subscription service in recent months. Aside from expanding its availability to more regions, more games are also being added monthly.
In April alone, titles such as “Deliver Us The Moon,” “Totally Reliable Delivery Service,” “Nier Automata - Become as Gods Edition,” “Alvastia Chronicles,” “Journey to the Savage Planet,” “The Long Dark” and “Gato Roboto” have been brought in.
More big titles are expected to come in Xbox Game Pass, especially since most game developers and publishers are trying to keep people entertained while in quarantine. Xbox Game Pass comes with a monthly fee of $10.
