Just recently, tech site Gizmodo reported about a set of new leaked details surrounding the next-generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett. The report claimed that the leaker revealed that Microsoft’s upcoming console will have a 4K camera. Interestingly, a representative from Microsoft confirmed to wccftech that the Redmond-based tech titan is not developing any camera technology for the Xbox Scarlett, and none has been given out to developers in any form so far.

The recent confirmation from Microsoft came after Gizmodo published a report revealing the details shared to them by a leaker. The report notes that both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett will have support for ray tracing but will have different techniques and approaches. While the leaker hinted at these techniques, the site did not provide further details.

Additionally, the leak claims that the Xbox Scarlett and the PlayStation 5 will feature cameras, but that of Microsoft is better. The dev kit, according to the claim, features a camera of 4K resolution with a 2ms lag. The Redmond-based tech giant has also reportedly shown a demo of the gaming console featuring a snapchat-like capability that will benefit streamers and content creators.

Despite limited official information about the Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5, the leaker is certain that both next-generation gaming consoles will have the largest compute jump in the history of the console generation. Officially, both Sony and Microsoft have confirmed that their upcoming gaming consoles will support ray tracing, but so far, we have seen nothing to support this.

Although there is no shortage of leaks and speculations surrounding Xbox Scarlett, very little is currently known about it. It is worth noting that leaks are not all the time 100 percent accurate. As in this case, we suggest that you take these details with a grain of salt unless otherwise officially confirmed by the company.

So far, Sony has revealed that the PlayStation 5 will be powered by AMD’s third-generation AMD Ryzen series with a Radeon Navi GPU that will support ray tracing. The CPU has eight cores of AMD’s latest 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture.

As for the Xbox Scarlett, we know that it will be powered by a custom-designed AMD CPU. It will also feature a high bandwidth GDD6 memory. Moreover, Microsoft’s next-generation gaming console will have a next-generation Solid State Drive (SSD). Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett are anticipated to arrive on holiday 2020.
