Xbox Series X Games Showcase: Details Officially Confirmed

Microsoft finally announced earlier today the big Xbox Series X event this month dubbed as the Xbox Game Showcase. The Redmond-based tech and gaming giant confirmed that the upcoming event would showcase titles from Microsoft’s first-party studios.

The company’s latest announcement aligns with earlier reports that the event would happen sometime in the fourth week of July.

Xbox made the announcement on its official Twitter account and shared some details about the Xbox Game Showcase happening on July 23, 2020. Geoff Keighley will kick off the event’s pre-show at 8 AM PT on YouTube and Twitch. This will be a part of the Summer Game Fest.

The main showcase will start at 9 AM PT, 12 PM ET or 5 PM for fans in the U.K. Earlier, Microsoft said that the focus of the Xbox Game Showcase would be mainly about first-party content arriving on its next-generation gaming console Xbox Series X, as well as on Xbox One and PC. Many fans were a bit disappointed in the company’s event held in May because it did not feature any of the main projects of Microsoft’s teams. Also, the platform holder earned some criticisms for hyping the reveal.

Many game enthusiasts and fans perceive the upcoming Xbox Game Showcase as Microsoft’s response to Sony’s PS5 digital event, which took place in June. The industry hotly received the event because it launched major PS5 titles. Additionally, Sony finally unveiled the full design of the upcoming gaming console, which many gamers anticipated.

Whispers online believe that some much-awaited titles would be announced at the Xbox Game Showcase. This includes a new RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. There are also rumors that a reboot of “Perfect Dark” would be announced at the said event.

Other titles anticipated to be at the Xbox Game Showcase includes the rumored next-generation titles and the new “Halo Infinite” from 343 Industries. Aside from first-party titles, several fans expect that Microsoft would unveil the heavily rumored Xbox Series S or Lockhart at the Xbox Game Showcase. The said console is allegedly the less powerful and more affordable version of the premium gaming console, Xbox Series X.
