Xiaomi Mi 5 Rival ‘Meizu Pro 6’ Screenshot Shows Apple iPhone 6s-Like 3D Touch Feature
Xiaomi’s latest flagship Mi 5 has just been launched. Meanwhile, the Chinese rival Meizu is gearing up to release the flagship “Pro 6” with top of the shelf configurations.
According to a latest Weibo update, the upcoming Meizu Pro 6 will come with 3D Touch or Force Touch capabilities on board. As of today, only a handful of devices come with this technology. The list includes Apple iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, Gionee S8, ZTE Axon Mini and Huawei Mate S, to name a few, GSM Arena reported.
The company’s VP and Flyme UI chief architect Yang Yan has reportedly uploaded a screenshot of the Meizu Pro 6 in Weibo, showing the exterior design of the handset. Going by the uploaded image, Meizu’s Touch ID will be similar to the iPhone 6s. Upon applying pressure on the device screen, a context menu listing several options on top of a hazy background pops out.
As Apple puts it, the 3D Touch comes with “Peek and Pop” feature. With this feature on board, the iPhone responds with subtle taps. This allows the user to preview all kinds of content on the handset and act on it, without having the need to open the app.
But the reality is Apple has not been able to make this feature a game changer, like it was claimed to be. Nevertheless, it is a nice feature to have in a handset.
Even though, Apple iPhone 6s users have shown tremendous interest in the new 3D Touch feature, there has been little to no news from Android behemoths like Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony. But Chinese OEMs have been quick to adopt and improve this technology on their handsets.
As far as the rumored specifications go, the Meizu Pro 6 will apparently come powered by an Exynos 8890 chipset, working in tandem with an octa-core processor. This is the same SoC seen in some variants of the latest Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, while other variants of S7 use Snapdragon 820.
The portal Price Raja said the price of the Meizu Pro 6 will be about 35,000 rupees in India, which translates to $517.
