Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 9 Explorer Edition And Mi 9 SE Officially Announced In China

Xiaomi has officially announced the Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship phone through an unveil event in China. The handset is loaded with powerful specs like high screen-to-body ratio display, in-screen fingerprint reader, fastest wireless charging technology, triple rear cameras and Snapdragon 855. Apart from launching the Mi 9, the company also announced a Transparent Edition of the phone with 12 GB of RAM. The Chinese firm also announced the upper mid-range Xiaomi Mi 9 SE through the same launch event.

Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 9 Explorer Edition Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Mi 9 features a 6.39-inch S-AMOLED display with waterdrop-style notch. According to the company, the Mi 9 offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.7 percent. Other display related features of the Mi 9 include Dark Mode, Sunlight Mode, Gorilla Glass 6 protection and Always-On Display.

The front notch is the home for 20-megapixel selfie camera. The glass back of the phone is fitted with triple camera setup which includes a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom support. The triple cameras are shielded by a sapphire glass lens cover, claimed GSMArena.

The Snapdragon 855 SoC fuels the Xiaomi Mi 9 with up to 8 GB of RAM. The MIUI 10 Android 9 Pie OS is available preinstalled on the device. The 3,300mAh battery of the Mi 9 not only supports 27W fast charging, but also 20W wireless charging. The handset features a dedicated button for accessing the Xiao AI voice assistant. The global edition of the phone will feature Google Assistant instead of Xiao AI.

There is a special edition of the Xiaomi Mi 9 that features a transparent rear that shows off its internal components in the form of decals. It is the first Xiaomi phone to feature 12 GB of RAM. The rest of the specs of this model is same as its regular version.

Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is a toned-down version of the Mi 9 smartphone. It comes with a smaller 5.97-inch waterdrop-style notched AMOLED display with in-screen fingerprint sensor. The Snapdragon 712 powers the smartphone along with 3,070mAh battery that comes with 18W rapid charging. For photography, it features 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 13-megapixel rear camera setup and a 20-megapixel selfie shooter.

Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 9 Explorer Edition, Mi 9 SE Price and Release Date

The base model of the Xiaomi Mi 9 with 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage is priced at 2,999 Yuan ($446). The second variant with 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage costs 3,299 Yuan ($490). It can be bought in colors like Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue and Piano Black.

The Transparent Edition of the Xiaomi Mi 9 that comes with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage carries a price tag of 3,999 Yuan ($594). The Mi 9 SE has landed in China in two models such as 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM +128 GB storage. These models are respectively priced at 1,999 Yuan ($297) and 2,299 Yuan ($343).

The global unveiling of the Xioami Mi 9 series will be carried out at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 that will be held in Barcelona, Spain in the coming week, 91mobiles reported.
