Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Confirmed To Arrive With 10GB RAM, 5G Support
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is one of the most highly anticipated flagship Android smartphones of 2018 and an interesting new detail has surfaced about the upcoming device. Xiaomi has officially revealed the launch date of the Mi Mix 3 and it also confirmed that the handset will have 10GB of RAM.
Xiaomi revealed on Weibo today, as well as on Facebook and other social media platforms, that the Mi Mix 3 will launch in Beijing, China on Oct. 25. The Chinese phone maker also included an image suggesting that the handset will feature a pop-up mechanism for its camera. More importantly, the company confirmed that the device will have 10GB of RAM and it will have 5G support.
Xiaomi might beat Oppo in releasing a smartphone with 10GB of RAM. Oppo was previously rumored to release a variant of the Find X with that RAM configuration, but there’s no word yet on when it will be released in China. There are already some smartphones that ship with 8GB of RAM and 10GB seems to be overkill. It’s unlikely that users may feel any difference in performance with 10GB of RAM, but it would certainly impress a lot of consumers, nonetheless.
As for 5G support, putting it on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 may provide future proofing for the handset, but users may not even experience the benefits of that type of network connectivity for some time, as pointed out by Android Authority. detailed report from August pointed out that China may not have a full commercial launch of 5G networks until 2020. Meanwhile, some carriers in the U.S. are already deploying 5G networks in select cities.
The Mi Mix series has always delivered on surprising consumers with very innovative technologies and it looks like Xiaomi is planning to do it again with the Mi Mix 3. Although no details on pricing has been leaked yet, it’s very likely that the handset will cost a lot when it launches in China.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will arrive with a bezel-less design once again and the company might also implement an in-display fingerprint sensor this time around. Inside, the handset is rumored to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with 256GB of storage. Xiaomi has already confirmed that the device will have a sliding mechanism that will hide the front-facing camera, but there’s no information yet if the mechanism will also hide the rear cameras.
