Controversial rapper XXXTentacion has been released from prison following his recent felony charges, but he is not off scot-free yet, TMZ reported. According to TMZ’s law enforcement sources, XXXTentacion (born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, also known as X) will be under strict house arrest for two months.

XXXTentacion was hit with eight new felony charges Monday after being sent to jail on seven previous charges Dec. 15. All 15 charges, according to TMZ, involve witness tampering related to his widely publicized domestic violence case against his then-pregnant ex-girlfriend. Per TMZ’s report, the eight new charges arose from evidence collected during phone calls he made from jail in 2016.

The Floridian rapper rose to prominence in the last few years, but has been a controversial figure in the rap community for most of his career, as Vulture documented. Aside from the domestic violence accusation, he was involved in feuds with Drake and Migos in 2017. He also came under fire in September for the music video for his song “Look At Me!,” which featured the rapper lynching a caucasian boy. In response, he said the video advocated for an “All Lives Matter” attitude.

Notably, X was the center of attention in June when he punched a fan at a show in Salt Lake City. He later apologized to the fan, according to Worldstarhiphop.
