  • Claudio Marchisio wants Paul Pogba to return to Juventus
  • The two played together in Turin between 2012 and 2016
  • Pogba moved to Old Trafford for his second stint ahead of 2016-17 season

Juventus legend Claudio Marchisio suggested Manchester United's struggling midfielder Paul Pogba that he'll be "happy again" if he returns to Turin.

Pogba, who moved from Juventus to Manchester United in 2016, recently admitted that he is going through the most "difficult period" of his career, as the 27-year-old is regularly being left out of the Red Devils' starting team due to his lack of form.

The 34-year-old Marchisio, who started off at Juventus’ youth system and went on to spend 25 years with the club, played with Pogba during the latter’s four-season stint in Turin between 2012 and 2016.

"Please Paul Pogba - Come to Juventus, you will be happy again. Me too," Marchisio tweeted in response to a post on the social media platform from Pogba.

Pogba, who has been struggling in his second spell at Old Trafford, has been linked with a move back to Juventus apart from his links with Real Madrid. In a recent interview, Pogba said," I had never known such a difficult period in my career. The France team is a breath of fresh air, the group is exceptional, it's magic."

Pogba did the interview with the French media firm RTL, who later cleared on Twitter that Pogba did not mean to insult Manchester United and all he meant was he wanted to "improve his performances" in his current difficult phase and believes the French national side can help him in the same.

However, Pogba’s France national team’s head coach Didier Deschamps has been brutally honest about his midfielder’s poor situation at Manchester United. After France’s recent 2-0 loss to Finland in a friendly fixture, Deschamps told reporters that he believed Pogba’s struggles at Manchester United were affecting his performances overall.

"He’s not in his best form, of course. I knew that before the game. This match was meant to give him some rhythm. He knew that he would only play for an hour. It’s hard to remember to be positive. Obviously, he’s not in one of his better periods. Like all players who have a club situation that is not positive, they are also impacted mentally. I know him well enough and it can happen at some points," Deschamps was quoted by Goal, as saying.
