There was a chance that the matter could be settled out of court, but a shocking decision will mean that the Brash and Sassy crew will find themselves facing off against Juliet in front of a judge instead, after a ruling is made on the Wednesday, June 14 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

After she was wrongfully terminated over the leaked tape of Billy (Jason Thompson) making bets with the hockey players that almost cost the company their deal with the Hockey League, Juliet (Laur Allen) decided to take matters into her own hands on the CBS soap. Following direct encouragement from Hilary (Mishael Morgan), who knows that she and Cane (Daniel Goddard) slept together in Tokyo, she used the hook-up to frame a case for sexual harassment, something which has stunned everyone.

Cane has since been working overtime to keep the truth about his hook-up from his wife, Lily (Christel Khalil), telling her about the lawsuit but swearing that nothing sexual ever happened between him and Juliet, and he certainly never coerced her into sex like she claims in her suit. He has also been making sure that he still seems innocent of any wrongdoing while discussing the case with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Billy as well, because he is desperate to make sure that no one learns about his affair. However, one person who can sense that something isn’t quite right is his daughter, Mattie (Lexie Stevenson), who will confront her father about what she feels is tension between him and Lily.

“I think something’s off,” she says in a preview clip. “You know you can tell me, right?”

Cane will assure his daughter there is nothing to worry about and head to the office, where he will wait with Victoria for word on whether or not Michael (Christian LeBlanc) was able to get the lawsuit thrown out. However, he may become devastated when Michael comes back with the news they didn’t expect—the case will go to trial, and since Victoria refuses to settle with Juliet, there is no stopping things.

Meanwhile, Juliet was also anxiously awaiting news about what would happen regarding her suit, since she does feel some guilt over it because she doesn’t think what happened with Cane really counts as sexual harassment. However, Hilary, who is determined that the truth about the hook-up gets out so she can gloat about Lily’s marriage not being as perfect as it seems, will continue assuring her she’s making the right decision.

Finally, Juliet will also receive word, as her lawyer calls her to inform her of the case’s status.

“It’s Leslie,” she says to Hilary. “The judge must have ruled.”

While the news the case is going to trial may feel like a victory for the two women, the good feelings will quickly dissolve, as both will also shortly find themselves at the end of nasty confrontations. Hilary will find herself facing off against Neil (Kristoff St. John), who will accuse her of trying to rip his family apart, while Juliet will be met with an angry and enraged Cane, who is incensed that she is trying to claim he forced her to have sex when they both know it isn’t true.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
