All of Genoa City knew that her time remaining was short. Now, news will spread throughout the town about Hilary's death, and those she left behind will struggle with their grief in different ways on the Monday, July 30 episode of "The Young and the Restless."

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) died in Devon's (Bryton James) arms not long after their wedding on the CBS soap, after succumbing from the post-op complications and severe blood loss she endured following the car accident with Lily (Christel Khalil) and Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry). Though he knew he was going to lose her, actually doing so is likely to be tough or Devon, but he will have a hard time allowing himself to grieve, instead temporarily turning his focus elsewhere in a bid to pretend that she didn't die.

Young and the Restless
Devon (Bryton James) will grieve Hilary (Mishael Morgan) after her death on the July 30, 2018 episode of "The Young and the Restless."  CBS

Meanwhile, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), who was Hilary's best friend, will also be devastated by the news and will grieve in her own way as well. After snapping at her daughter, Summer (Hunter King), the younger girl will realize what happened and briefly comfort her mother. Phyllis will then also receive comfort from Nick (Joshua Morrow), Billy (Jason Thompson), and Jack (Peter Bergman), as all three men express their condolences to her. In particular, Jack's condolences will stand out, as he joins Phyllis to toast Hilary's memory later on, and the two decide that despite their past drama following the end of their marriage, their friendship will be their newest priority.

As for Mariah (Camryn Grimes), she will opt to honor her late co-worker by paying tribute on their show, encouraging the fans to grieve for Hilary, but also move on from the tragedy later, because it is what Hilary would have wanted from them. Her special show will be what brings Devon to finally face that Hilary is gone, and he too will begin to grieve.

Of course, as he does, something could change within Devon. Though he had his family's support during Hilary's final days, it won't be lost on him that none of them approved of her before, specifically Lily, who was driving the car when the accident occurred. Now, as he mourns the loss of his wife, his grief could also turn to anger that threatens to tear his relationship with his sister apart.

"The Young and the Restless" airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
