Young Thug Sports Dress On New ‘Jeffrey’ Mixtape, See The Best Memes And Twitter Reactions
Young Thug released his “Jeffrey” mixtape on Thursday, and people had a lot to say about the cover art.
The rapper can be seen sporting a long, ruffled lavender dress with a matching bonnet, which hides his face. On the back of the tape, Young Thug lifts the hat, flashes a smile and gives people a good look at the front of the gown.
Right away, there were some who praised the Rich Gang member for his outfit and said he was thrusting the rap culture forward by blurring gender roles.
“One thing you gotta respect about Young Thug is his fearlessness,” one person tweeted. “It takes a lot to be yourself unapologetically. You don’t have to agree.” “We gon’ look back at ‘Jeffery’ as one of the albums that moved the culture forward,” tweeted another.
There were others, however, who clearly didn’t like the rapper’s mixtape cover or his fashion choice. “Young Thug looks like Mary Poppins,” someone wrote. “My one misgiving about Young Thug’s album cover is that I don’t lead a life allowing me to wear that,” another person tweeted.
The “Jeffrey” release consists of 10 tracks with most of the songs named after famous artists like “Wyclef Jean,” “Floyd Mayweather,” “Swizz Beatz” and “Riri” to name a new.
According to HipHopDX, the mixtape was supposed to come out on Aug. 16, Thugger’s 25th birthday, but for some reason that didn’t happen. A new look isn’t the only change in the rapper’s life. He also recently changed his name from Young Thug to Jeffrey, which his label boss Lyor Cohen talked about earlier this month.
“Young Thug is not going to be Young Thug anymore,” he said during a Rap Radar podcast. “His new name is going to be No, My Name is Jeffery … It’s a circular thing. It’s important. Utilize his name going forward because it’s important.”
The “Slime Season” creator has been known for crossing gender lines in the past with his fashion choices and in July, he sported a long, black dress in a Calvin Klein ad.
