A 22-year-old man was taken into custody Saturday after he allegedly stabbed his younger brother to death near their home in Washington.

According to a press release from the Renton Police Department, officers responded to the scene after receiving information about a stabbing incident. The officers found the boy, later identified as 11-year-old Murphy Hun, laying on the sidewalk and covered in blood.

The boy was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the boy had been killed by his elder brother, identified as Bobby Hun. Bobby made threats to the victim at their home. He then chased the boy down the street before fatally stabbing him.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the King County Jail.

Speaking to CBS-affiliated television station KIRO 7, the victim's family members said the accused, who was taking medication for his mental illness, had a virtual meeting with his psychiatrist Saturday afternoon. He seemed agitated after the meeting.

Shanty Hak, their mother, reportedly tried to get the victim to calm Bobby down. But the accused got a knife from the kitchen and began chasing Murphy down the street instead. Hak ran behind. By the time she could reach him, however, the victim had already been stabbed.

Murphy was a sixth-grade student at McKnight Middle School in Renton and was known to be friendly and respectful.

The family is "devastated" and "heartbroken" by the boy's death.

"I miss him so much. He's my boy. Bobby loved Murphy a lot," their mother told the channel.

"This is the side of him we did not see coming," Thu Carpenter, their aunt, said about the accused.

An investigation into the case was ongoing.

The incident comes days after a 23-year-old man in India stabbed his younger brother to death for allegedly finishing his mobile internet data. The accused took the victim to the roof of their home and rebuked him for exhausting his data. He then stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene. He was traced and arrested two days later.
