Your Hair Could Tell You If You’re At Risk Of High Blood Pressure
KEY POINTS
- High blood pressure can have a lot of symptoms
- One virtually uncommon symptom that you may have neglected is hair loss
- If you notice balding or a receding hair line, try to have your blood pressure checked
High blood pressure may have become a common condition due to the millions of people suffering from it all around the world. However, it still isn’t something to be ignored, considering the dangerous health consequences that could occur. Keeping your blood pressure within normal levels is important in order for the condition not to worsen.
One way that you can immediately afford any intervention plans or any of those known ways to abate high blood pressure is for you not to ignore the symptoms. There are common symptoms, but there are also those uncommon ones. For instance, losing hair could mean that you are at risk of having high blood pressure.
Hair Loss and High Blood Pressure
A study conducted by researchers found out that balding men are at a 52% higher risk of suffering from high blood pressure than those who have hair. Men who have crown baldness or a receding hairline have a higher risk of 69%.
The lead researcher from the University of Tokyo, Dr. Tomohide Yamada, said that men with vertex baldness must be assessed for cardiovascular risk. They are also the one who needs to develop their cardiovascular profile.
As per Express’ report, the British Heart Foundation recommended living a heart-healthy lifestyle. It emphasized less stress, exercise, and a low-fat diet. In addition to hair loss, the foundation pointed out nosebleeds, shortness of breath, blurred vision, dizziness, and chest pain. Headache is another high blood pressure symptom.
One caveat, though, high blood pressure can occur even without you feeling all these symptoms. It is recommended that you have your blood pressure checked on a regular basis so that you will know whether you are in the safe blood pressure levels.
Resulting Health Issues
This regular blood pressure check is important because if you constantly have high blood pressure, you might end up suffering from a stroke, or a coronary heart disease, which is often a precursor of a heart attack.
So before you end up trying to find ways and means to lower blood pressure, better make some lifestyle changes at the earliest. This maybe your best line of defense against rising blood pressure.
