YouTube co-founder Steve Chen is leaving the video service, three years after being bought by Google , but is staying with the search giant, according to a report by All Things Digital.

Chen left his CTO position at YouTube last fall but Google says he has moved on to other engineering projects at the search giant.

YouTube hasn't officially named a replacement for the CTO position, and it appears the position will not be filled after YouTube's ops merged with the larger Google infrastructure

Chen is also reportedly involved with a new incubator-like venture founded by former BitTorrent exec Ashwin Navin.

Meanwhile, Chad Hurley, the other co-founder, remains as YouTube's CEO.
