Yuri Wright Expelled for Sexual Tweets
Highly touted high school cornerback Yuri Wright was expelled on Wednesday after a series of sexually explicit messages on Twitter.
Wright, the seventh-best cornerback according to Rivals.com, was repeatedly warned to stop posting on Twitter and finally expelled on Wednesday when he refused to comply. Wright, who played for high school football powerhouse Don Bosco Prep, has already seen college backs off his recruitment due to the insensitive tweets.
He was expelled from the school for the things he had written on Twitter, Don Bosco Prep coach Greg Toal told ESPNNewYork.com. It was pretty simple really, what he wrote were some graphic sex things. This is a Catholic school, things like that cannot happen. It was totally inappropriate.
Michigan has already dropped its pursuit of Wright, according to the Detroit News, while other schools are strongly reconsidering their recruitment of the talented defensive back. The 6-foot-2 cornerback had recently narrowed his school list to Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame, Rutgers, and Colorado, but it's unknown whether any of the schools are even still interested in him.
Toal believes that Wright will ultimately be able to go to a good college, but that schools want to make sure that he isn't a head case.
There have been schools that have called asking about it, but he'll be fine as far as colleges go. Toal told ESPNNewYork.com. Some don't like it, but mostly people are just calling to make sure his head is straight.
Wright has since deleted his Twitter account, but Sports Grid saved a few of his most inflammatory tweets for posterity. We've included them in their original form, but warn that the language is extremely inappropriate and sexist.
