Zac Brown Band's Lead Singer Tests Positive For COVID-19; ‘The Comeback Tour’ Postponed
Zac Brown Band took to Instagram Tuesday to reveal that the lead singer, Zac Brown, has contracted COVID-19. Brown also announced that "The Comeback Tour" has been paused.
Brown, 43, made the announcement on the band's official Instagram account. He shared a photo of him performing on stage with a heartfelt message in the caption. The singer said that he has "made the very difficult decision to pause Zac Brown Band’s 'The Comeback Tour.'"
The singer further wrote that despite taking all the precautions, he has tested positive for COVID-19 and he feels "deeply disappointed this has happened."
The "Goodbye In Her Eyes" singer explained how important it is for him and his band to perform live ever since they dropped their debut single in 2003.
"Touring is our life and performing live for our fans is the best part of our job," he explained. "The bottom line is that I want to take every precaution to put the health and safety of our fans and crew first," he said.
The singer further revealed that he will resume the tour once he finishes the "CDC-mandated quarantine and it is safe for our band members and crew to do so."
Brown further noted how grateful he is to his fans for being "understanding" regarding this decision. Moreover, he also praised "everyone on the front lines who can’t stay at home because their work is essential."
"I believe we can all overcome this together," he concluded. "As soon as we can, we’ll see you back out on the road again. Nothing’s better than the comeback," the singer added.
Fans took to the comments section to share their reaction.
One of the fans hoped that the band would still be able to perform writing, "Oh no! Hope you feel better soon!!! Hoping your 10 days started today and you can still make it to West Palm Beach on October 9th!!"
Another fan wrote, "Well, that’s awful. I hope you feel better. But damn. The last ZBB concert in Michigan was canceled due to March 2020 covid 3 days before. Now MI again 2 days before. I’m so bummed."
The band consists of artists Jimmy De Martini, John Driskell Hopkins, Coy Bowles, Chris Fryar, Clay Cook, Matt Mangano and Daniel De Los Reyes. The tour was originally scheduled to begin on Sept. 30 and end on Nov. 21.
